After deciding to restart the WooCommerce checkout plugin on Jan 1, I was waiting to get started after handing off certain design responsibilities with InfiniteWP, WP Time Capsule, WPMerge and LocalSync.io (where I still oversee design) to the team. Now the time has come.
Applying what I learned from my previous mistake, version 2 of the plugin will be –
- A stand-alone plugin – The checkout page will be separate from the WordPress’ files and styles, while also allowing brand customizations and compatibility with popular WooCommerce plugins.
- A plug-n-play system – It will also not have a ton of options that the user has to understand and enable individually. Once the plugin is installed and activated, the new checkout with all optimizations will replace the default checkout entirely.
Wish us luck as we begin the development of v2 of the plugin, renamed as – Linear Checkout for WooCommerce by Cartimize.
